Annal Nayyar blogs the DfE latest information on Summer Schools

In November we will make the second and final payment for the summer schools which ran between the 2012 to 2013 and 2013 to 2014 academic years. The payment will be shown as ‘summer school’ on remittances. November was the planned second payment date for the grant to give academies time to return the final numbers after the summer. The first payments made in July were based on 50% of the initial allocations.

This second payment is the adjustment based on the final allocation following the post-summer returns, so in some cases there will be a recovery where the first 50% paid exceeds the final balance.

It’s based on the final number of places offered (not the actual pupils who attended) at the rate of £250 per place per week (for either 1 or 2 weeks). Academies who failed to confirm, by the deadline of 27 September, that a summer school had taken place will receive no further summer school funding and will have any funding already paid in July recovered on 1 November.
