Consortium named preferred bidder as DfE’s early intervention promoter

An article in local gov today stated:

A charity-led partnership, supported by the Local Government Association and councils across the country, is poised to win a Department for Education contract to promote early intervention, it emerged today.

Led by the 4Children charity, the consortium will act as an independent, authoritative voice promoting the benefits of early intervention for children and families across the UK at local and national level.

News that the Early Intervention Foundation Consortium has gained preferred bidder status was welcomed by the group’s chair, Graham Allen MP, who said its members – which include 25 national partners and hundreds of local councils – are ready to begin work immediately.

‘We are itching to begin a serious long-term contribution to the vital work of giving babies, children and young people the social and emotional capability to realise their full potential,’ said Mr Allen.

‘It will take a generation to make the impact that we want but that work has to start with the first step. Now that the Secretary of State has awarded us preferred status the plans we have been working on for over a year can now swing in to action and delivery begin in the very near future,’ he added.
